Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique used to relieve psychological stress. It is an effective treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). During EMDR therapy sessions, you relive negative or triggering experiences in brief doses while the therapist directs your eye movements.

EMDR is thought to be effective because recalling distressing events is often less emotionally upsetting when your attention is diverted. This allows you to be exposed to the memories or thoughts without having a strong psychological response. Over time, this technique is believed to lessen the impact that the memories or thoughts have on you.

EMOTION FOCUSED THERAPY FOR COUPLES

Supporting couples to increase feelings of closeness, safety, and connection with each other. EFT aims to:

  • To expand and re-organize key emotional responses and, in the process, the organization of self.

  • To create a positive shift in partners’ interactional cycles and patterns.

  • To foster the creation of a secure bond between partners.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING®

Somatic Psychotherapy is a body-oriented approach to healing. I am trained in a particular method called Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) created by Dr. Peter Levine. SE™ works at the level of the nervous system to track bodily sensations and movements to shift patterns of chronic stress and trauma that leave us feeling scared, stuck, shut down, overwhelmed, or disconnected. SE is used to treat two types of trauma: shock trauma and developmental trauma. Shock trauma is caused by a single traumatic event or near-death experience. Developmental trauma refers to the damage that occurs during childhood development.

LIFESPAN INTEGRATION

This is a therapeutic technique to encounter the impact of difficult experiences in your life, increasing emotional regulation and trauma resolution. With Lifespan Integration, we will introduce all the resources of your present adult self to the needs of your younger ego state in trauma. WHAT IS RESILIENCE?

Resilience is creating large enough capacity to hold the hard without letting it overwhelm us; our ability to move through a situation or circumstance without it defining us. MORE CHOICE! Learn how to choose your responses to situations so you can respond rather than react.

Resilience is all about choice, creating the ability to know ourselves and respond to a given situation with presence. This is the work of therapy.

MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Hi, I’m Erica,

I am here to support you in feeling comfortable bringing your true self to therapy. No pretending is needed. You seek help because you realize you can’t figure this stuff out yourself. My job is to hold space to allow your unique self to show up without fear of judgment.

I am a strength-based therapist. I see the relationship between client and therapist as co-creative, meaning we create a treatment path and discover the most helpful tools together. Our sessions will explore how current patterns stemming from past circumstances may keep you from moving forward in life.

Life can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. If you have experienced an adverse event in your life, whether recurring or an isolated incident, even the stress of a typical day can invoke anger, sadness, and anxiety.

Luckily, therapy can support you in learning helpful tools to feel more resilient to cope with life's challenges, helping reduce your stress levels and create a greater feeling of ease. I have a passion for assisting people in deepening their sense of self and working on their relationships, whether it be with their family of origin or their family of choice. Together we may incorporate art, movement, dreams, story, and mindfulness to support lasting change and more choice.
